Our Stories

Our Background

Multipurpose Community Development Service (MCDS) is a non-governmental organization established in 1994, registered under the Government of Nepal, and affiliated with the Social Welfare Council. MCDS has reached over more than 20 districts through integrated programs focused on health, education, livelihood, local capacity development, environmental protection, and disaster response and recovery. With a mission to uplift poor and marginalized communities, MCDS emphasizes sustainable, community-owned development.

To ensure meaningful participation and long-term impact, MCDS has adopted the Integrated Group Action Process (GAP) approach in its community development work. This is implemented through Self-Help Groups (SHGs), enabling communities to identify their own needs, take collective action, and build resilience from within.

Since its inception, MCDS has expanded its reach through strategic partnerships and community-driven initiatives. Guided by the vision of “transformed communities enjoying life in its fullness,” MCDS continues to empower individuals and communities, contributing significantly to sustainable development and positive social change across Nepal.
